Rachel Mast Mohr is a lyric mezzo-soprano known for her versatility across opera, oratorio, and choral music. Originally from Corvallis, Oregon, she recently returned to the Pacific Northwest after many years performing throughout Chicago and the Midwest, bringing with her a rich blend of musicianship, vocal versatility, and credentials from the region's premier choral ensembles. Rachel is a vocal chameleon, lending her full voice to many booming Carmina Burana's and opera roles, yet shimmering through Ēriks Ešenvalds' The Pleiades and Stars with equal ease. Her voice is one directors rely on to bridge distinct timbres, creating natural blend in choral settings without sacrificing tone.
In Chicago she sang with the Grant Park Music Festival Chorus, the William Ferris Chorale, Chicago Fringe Opera, 5th Wave Collective and treble ensemble La Caccina, among others. Notable performances include singing for the Lord Mayor of Bradford during a celebration of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee in Bradford, UK, performing the alto solos in Larry Nickel's Requiem for Peace - which features solos in Mandarin and Hebrew - and portraying the role of RN in the Chicago premiere of Milton Granger's Bluebeard's Waiting Room.
Since returning to Oregon she has shared the stage with the Bach Cantata Chorale, In Mulieribus, Portland Baroque Orchestra and the Trinity Cathedral Schola. Rachel holds a B.A. from Goshen College and a Master of Music from the Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University.
